The Department of English organized its Department Fest ‘Jabberwocky - 2017 on 10 January 2017, with the help of student coordinators from ‘The Literati’, the English Student Association of the Department, and other student volunteers. This year it was an intercollegiate fest. 4 Colleges participated in the fest. The colleges that participated in the fest were:

 The theme of this inter-collegiate fest was World Mythology. It was a grand success and saw participants from colleges across Bengaluru competing, along with Christies, in various competitive events conducted during the day. 9 exciting events like Quiz, Alucinatio Mentis (Creative writing) Mythopore (Extempore), Midas Touch (Painting), Clash of the Elements (Group Painting), Mythiquill (Poetry writing and recitation), Hero’s Quest (Treasure hunt) and Dust of the Ancients (Singing) were organized.

The day started with an inaugural ceremony that was held in the Main Auditorium at 9:00 am. The inauguration began with an invocation song while the lamp was lit. Mr. Daniel Gnanaraj, Assistant Professor, Department of English, CHRIST (Deemed to be University) gave the Welcome Address. This was followed by an address to the gathering by Dr Abhaya N B, Head, Department of English. Later, Mr C S Krishnamurthy, from the State Bank of India addressed the gathering. This was followed by an inspiring and graceful Bharatanatyam performance by the Chief Guest, Ms Rukmini Vijayakumar, an Indian film actress and Bharatanatyam dancer from Bengaluru, Karnataka.

The Quiz, Creative Writing, Painting and Poetry writing competitions were conducted in the morning. Simultaneously, an intellectually stimulating Panel Discussion on ‘Demystifying Myth’ was organized in the Main Auditorium, CHRIST (Deemed to be University). The discussion was moderated by Mr. Padmakumar M.M., Assistant Professor and Head, Department of Media Studies, CHRIST (Deemed to be University). The panelists were Senior Research Scholar Naresh Keerthi from National Institute of Advanced Studies (NIAS); Dr Anil Joseph Pinto, Registrar, CHRIST (Deemed to be University); and Gaana J, Assistant Professor, Department of English, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Bannerghatta Campus. The audience enthusiastically contributed to the discussion and posed different questions to the panelists.

The afternoon session saw the Department of English, CHRIST (Deemed to be University) students working on the preparation of their theme based stalls. They set up different stalls based on world mythology like Aztec mythology, Greek mythology, Turkish mythology, Islamic mythology, Norse mythology, Slavic mythology and so on. As mentioned earlier, the students were given 2 hours to set up their respective stalls. Apart from setting up the theme based stalls, students had also dressed up in suitable costumes to represent their theme. The stalls were judged on the basis of 5 parameters which were: Research, Conceptualization, Interaction, Execution, and Visualization. The judge for this event was Senior Research Scholar Naresh Keerthi from the National Institute of Advanced Studies (NIAS), Bengaluru.

During the valedictory function, prizes were distributed to the students who took part in the various events and the theme based stalls. The following were the Prize Winners for the Theme Based Stalls:
